Finding the “Joy Factor” with World Renown eDiscovery Authority – Ariana Tadler

Ariana Tadler is the founding partner of Tadler Law LLP, a WBENC-certified, women-owned boutique law firm specializing in a diverse array of litigation and legal counseling services, as well as the co-founder of Meta-e Discovery, an eDiscovery support services and technology provider based in NYC. She is the only Plaintiff’s lawyer ranked as Band-1 by Chambers & Partners in the global eDiscovery space, and has represented clients in some of the largest class action data breach cases and other litigation matters. Ariana also serves on the Federal Civil Rules Advisory Committee, holds top leadership positions across the legal industry and has been a critical figure in developing eDiscovery law and practice as we know it today. If you bulleted out her achievements…well, let’s just say you better go stock up on paper.

Ariana’s life and career are clear examples of how a professional can operate at the top of their game consistently over time. One of the things that makes her so interesting is how seamlessly she integrates her career with her lifestyle. She smashes the “work-life” balance paradigm by making them one in the same. And she does it in a way from which we can all learn.

Whether breaking new ground or shattering ceilings in the legal and eDiscovery worlds, Ariana’s career is marked by unrelenting achievement, numerous “firsts,” and broad innovation. There are many high-achieving lawyers out there, but few do it with as much grace, style and savvy as Ariana. Even fewer do all this while using their position to strongly advocate for justice and gender equality. And then, EVEN FEWER do all that while constantly making time to mentor the next generation of responsible legal professionals.

She is respected by both her peers and adversaries, worked relentlessly in a male-dominated field to become a Big Law Partner, achieved at the highest levels at that firm for over two decades, started two successful companies, is consistently appointed to leadership positions by various courts, serves on numerous Boards and Advisory Groups, constantly reaches back over the wall by mentoring, teaching, lecturing and writing, and tons more…oh, and I should mention that she raised two boys while doing all this. [MIC DROP] I don’t know about you, but I don’t know too many people that could even hope to do all that without collapsing several times a day! The important point is that you would never hear that from Ariana, as she is someone who is ever thankful, humble and focused on action (the best folks always are).

This is why it was so important to me to feature her on The Guide (this interview has been about a year in the making). One of my goals is to use this platform to shine the spotlight on the superheroes that walk amongst us mere mortals. Hey, maybe some of the super-ness will automatically transfer by aural osmosis! But if that doesn’t work, Ariana is an amazing teacher, and you can always strive to adapt her words.

I was lucky enough to sit down with Ariana for a conversation about life and law, and I ask how she achieves that unique blend of career and lifestyle. As you will learn during our conversation, she achieves this blend, in part, by finding “The Joy Factor.”
